We have NO hurricanes, NO marine patrol and
NO price-gouging marinas.
A marine survey is usually commissioned by a serious buyer to be sure that the boat
under consideration is thoroughly evaluated by a professional, and he can
therefore feel more confidant in sales negotiations.
A top-notch surveyor, like Casey, can spend up to two full days surveying the
boat, and then compile the results from hundreds of inspections to
include in his final report. Unlike a simpler “checklist” style
survey, Casey inspects the boat through the eyes of a boat builder
and cruising sailor with many years of experience. His survey is a
lengthy written report full of opinions, observations and
recommendations. He is also able to offer suggestions as to the
boat’s suitability to your personal plans and lifestyle.
A marine survey is a highly technical unbiased evaluation to determine fair market
value, insurability and the level of future satisfaction with your
own cruising experiences. A boat deemed to have terminal problems
and not worth buying can conclude early at $35 per hour. Surveys only run $14.00 per foot. Complete reports run $500 to
$600.

Casey’s passion is building wooden boats by traditional methods, from kayaks and
dinghies to classic racing yachts. At his dock in Cayo Quemado on the Rio Dulce, he is able to
offer the finest quality craftsmanship, with the highest quality
tools, at a fraction of the cost of an ordinary boatyard in America.
A re-fit of your boat can include hull and deck repair, custom interior joinery,
rigging work, repair and installation of marine-quality systems,
bright work & painting, and many other improvements to optimize your
efficiency and comfort.
